LEAP FROG STRATEGY IN MAHABHARATA

Before going into the core of this topic we must first understand what leap frog strategy means. Whenever we have to take a big/large step or jump in our life then few steps of ours are to be taken back in order to ensure that the main step we are taking is fail safe. This strategy is basically derived from the action of frog. Whenever frog has to take a big jump then the frog takes its few steps back in order to ensure that his steps are safe and secured. If the steps will not be safe and secured then this will cause a trouble in the long run. This as a whole is called as Leap Frog Strategy.
Now comes the crux  which would bring home the point as to how our great epic Mahabharata also contained such strategy.  In the battlefield of Kurukshetra, Arjuna was very much excited to fight his arch rival Karna  without any iota of knowledge that  Karna possessed weapon of Lord Indra which was Amoghastra/Amoghshakti which was granted to him in lieu of Karna’s charity of highest order by giving in alms to Indra the kavach and kundal which were part of his body since his birth. This Amoghshakti was  supposed to unfailingly kill anybody aimed at. However, this Amoghshakti could be used only once as told to him by Lord Indra. Karna was strategic and had preserved this weapon to kill only and only Arjuna. Lord Shree Krishna, who was not only Charioteer of Arjuna but was also his friend, guide and well wisher, realized the gravity of the situation considering  strengths and weakness of both Kauravas and Pandavas ( in management terms we can say SWOT Analysis).Considering that Karna could use this Amoghshakti against Arjun any time whenever he would face Arjun , Lord Krishna called Arjuna from the battlefield and in place of Arjuna Bhima’s son Ghatotkach was sent to fight Kauravas . Ghatotkach was a terrific warrior and he  unleashed a reign of terror causing devastating damage to the Kauravas’  army . It appeared as if Ghatotkach was to bring  the war  to the end that very day only. When the whole battle field started showing the bloodshed of Kauravas’army ,  it  infuriated and inflicted so fearful injuries in the mind and soul of  Duryodhana  that  he had to compel his  friend Karna to use his Amoghshakti  for bringing halt to  the Ghatotkach’s journey of seemingly endless destruction of Kauravas’ army . Although Karna insisted that he had particularly saved his Amoghshakti to be used against only and only Arjuna  yet on the frightened repeated insistence of Duryodhana Karna  was constrained to use his Amoghastra/Amoghshakti against Ghatotkach. Ghatotkacha was killed by Amoghshakti. As it could be used only once so this Amoghshakti missed the Karna’s intended war objective.(resource utilization missing the attainment of  purpose). This was  strategy failure on part of Kauravas and a Strategic gain on part of pandavas because on the final day fight between Karna and Arjuna, Karna was deprived of required weapons which ultimately led to the defeat of a great warrior like Karna. This was a Leap Frog strategy used by Lord Shree Krishna in Mahabharata.

OLD MAN’S ATTITUDE – A STRATEGY TO RAISE SALES ALTITUDE

In order to raise the sales of company or even small shop people do hell lots of advertisements either on TV, through Print Media, through social networking sites, putting banners and what not. These are also included in promotional strategies for any business unit. As you can view a line out of my poem  Customer, Whether it is Product Place Price or Promotion, What matters the most is the customer satisfaction. As per the concept of Marketing Myopia what most of the businessman make a mistake that they focus too much on a particular product and neglect the benefits, attributes and services that are to be delivered to the customer after selling that product.

Few weeks back I visited a shop in Mehdipatnam area of Hyderabad city in Andhra Pradesh. I had to purchase a pair of shoes from a decent shop. Being a person from middle class family I can’t afford the Branded shoes. Although the shops nearby that shop which I visited were having beautiful girls as sales persons and this shop had an old man as its sales executive, but still the youth(including both boys and girls) were attracted to this shop and not to other shops. I wondered that why despite of beautiful girls in the shops as sales executives why those shops don’t have so much of their customer base? First of all as a customer I thought that quality must not be up to the mark of the competitors as compared to this shop. But when I entered that shop and for purchasing shoes when I interacted with the old man who was sales executive of the shop I felt delighted with the behavior of this old man. He said following words to me Beta aap ye wala joota dekhiye, Nahin beta ye aapke pair me nahin aayega, Beta iss joote ko pehnoge to bade acche lagoge, Beta aapko joota pehenke koi taklif to nahi ho rahi hai etc. This made me realize that old man’s affection is always being needed to every individual and customers like youngsters always get attracted to the affection because the caring attitude of an old man in the shop generates a feeling of healthiness in the minds of individuals. This is also one of the strategies of differentiating from competitors.
